Natural Environment:
The natural environment can be the client's home, school, daycare, afterschool center or even a grandparent's home. It is a location that the client spends time in or plays in. It is the area known to the client, where he or she feels comfortable.

The Advantage:
Clients seen for therapy in their own environment may progress more quickly. The patient is learning new skills in the setting they will use them. They do not need to learn to carry-over new skills. Caregivers are encouraged to participate. Also, feeling comfortable in the natural environment, the client is more inclined to communicate and interact with the speech-language pathologist.
